Tyler Day #1
I agree that it would be harsh to leave a kid in the wilderness, no matter how long. He could encounter a bear like the picture on the front of the book. What does his father mean by "make notches on a stick"? This reminds me of Brian's Winter when he killed the moose because he had to do so much preparing before every meal. What if it's not a small creature and instead it's a person being hunted by Indians? When he said "howdy", I thought he was from Texas. If I were him, I would take the gun and start running from that cowboy. Clearly, someone who was admiring a gun and ran away from a town in a big hurry, did something wrong. I think this book is not like Hatchet because Brian was nowhere near civilization. A similarity this book shares with Hatchet is that they both have to endure what nature has in store for them.

Well Mrs.F to start things off just wanting to say that I love this book, probably because I loved HatchetJ.
This book is different than Hatchet because Matt actually had a house and food but Brian had to make his shelter and get his food. Although Hatchet and Sign of the Beaver had a lot of differences they had a lot of similarities, it is similar because both Matt and Brian had to survive by THEMSELVES. The setting of the book “so far” is definitely in Matt’s log cabin. I found man vs. man when Matt’s dad had to leave Matt for 6 to 7 weeks. I don’t know what any of the people reading this thinks but I think that Matt has too many responsibilities for only 12 years old. I don’t think Matt should have had Ben come inside his house because there is very very low chance that Ben was nice or bad.

I think this book is like Hatchet because they are both trying to live in the wilderness. One of the differences is that Matt was not there on accident but Bryan was there on accident. A similarity is that they are both living in the wilderness. I think this is a really good book and I like it better than Hatchet. What does ruefully mean? I thought it was very nice of Matt to let Ben in and fed him and he steels his father’s rifle. I thought that it was rude. He knew his father always kept his rifle as clean as a spoon metaphor.
Ryan Day 1.
When I was reading this book it was difficult because no one in the book knew how to talk. This is like Hatchet because they were alone for a while and I can tell that Matt is going to be alone for a long time. It is different because someone visits Matt in th beggining of the book. In Hatchet someone visits Brian in the end of the book. The reason I like this book is because it is similiar to Hatchet which I liked very much.
